Family Time

Day 8 of NaBloWriMo (National Blog Writing Month)...

Prompt: What is your favorite way to spend time with your family?

Sometimes the most random and spontaneous activities can be the most enjoyable time spent with family. After dropping our daughter off at play rehearsal today, hubby and I knew we had about six hours to enjoy each others company. Our lives have been so busy lately pulling us in a variety of different directions that we've been feeling like two ships that pass in the night.

A relaxing lunch at a new restaurant was first on our agenda. Panini sandwiches and salads at Ralph's Garden Cafe fit the bill perfectly. Strolling through the Bookery after lunch, I couldn't resist buying a new paperback--like I have time to read HA! We browsed at the craft show going on in the mall, and a cookie from Cookies, Etc. was a perfect dessert after our lunch. A bit more shopping and then sitting on a park bench enjoying the beautiful Fall day felt like heaven.

After walking around East Park soaking in the sunshine and stopping every now and again for a photo op, we took a self-guided tour through the newly renovated Historic Park Inn and sipped a glass of wine in the lounge before going back to wait for our daughter.

It's days like these that make all the stressful, busy days fade away allowing the importance of being with loved ones to once again be the priority.
